The world of work is ever changing, employees are faced with change at an incredible rate. 'Change fatigue' is a phrase which encapsulates a very common feeling amongst students and staff. This can be a very real problem, causing stress and apathy and a reduction in engagement.
My experiences, be they professional or personal, in business or in education have shown me that a holistic approach to choosing the appropriate tools is part of of the solution.
The other, equally as important aspect, is using the "Right tool for the right job".
Creating a culture of using a reduced, but more sustainable tool kit, has been integral to my teaching success over the years.
An engineer has to be able to draw using pencil and paper, just in case they need to do a sketch in a workshop with no CAD. A chef needs knife skills when filleting a fish. These 'muscle memory' skills are incredibly important.
Having worked with traditional and modern practices I am well placed to advise on creating a toolkit which suits you and your company.
