The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 and the ETF created the Technical Teaching Fellowship to recognise outstanding practitioners and their high impact teaching practice.
The aim of the Fellowship is share expertise and support technical teaching and learning. This was completed by creating a Virtual Reality resource.
I was awarded a Fellowship in 2020 along with Dr Lynda Broomhead, Chris Fairclough and Shell Fearn.
The outcome of my fellowship was a virtual reality teaching resource to improve engagement with Health and Safety training.
The resource is available to use as a website on any device or as virtual reality using a headset.
Level 1 is guided by a member of staff, there is discussion and learning points throughout. The 'hotspots' are points for the students to understand and to ask about.
Level 2 is worked through as an individual. The student has to navigate their way through the workshop looking for 'problems'. They then report on this in the form of a formal report.
